i don't want to comment or whether there is misuse of 498 or not?? but i would definitely like to say that real dowry harassed victims are still not getting justice. they are running from pillar to post just for justice. i myself victim victim of dowry harassment running from one place to another just for the sake of justice. either the boy's family bribe them or if at some place that not possible then starting lingering on the case. police also sees every case with the negative eyes that it might be misuse. Like in case of my in-laws i don't know that whether they bribe or what but police is also lingering the time and passing time and in this way it almost 1 year now. i have proof that they have thrown me out of the house and used torture and beaten me. in fact tried to kill me twice. and police after meeting my-in laws also understands that my-in-laws are not good and police understand that they are harassing me now also still they are silent and sitting mum. i don't understand that what is going on who says that law is favour of girls and they are misusing. because after seeing my case i realise that law are meant for defaulters whether its boys family or its girls family. but sufferers are real victims and not only they are harassed by in-laws but also harassed by laws... so, instead of making rumours on that there is misuse of 498, but everyone should stand up and help those who are real victims.
